(CSSAR BEIJING) Could human beings survive another 100,000 years? This grave question was put forward by Professor Roger-Maurice Bonnet and was directed to the audience of space scientists from CSSAR and other research institutes in Beijing on May, 10th 2011 during his visit at CSSAR.

In his presentation about the future of space science, he elaborated on the major historical events in the history of space exploration, the current space projects and the future development of space science.

One point professor Bonnet touched upon during his lecture is the international cooperation among China and other major space countries.

He believed that space exploration was political driven and space science could get benefits from space exploration.

When it comes to the exploration activity of China, Professor Bonnet suggested that China should embark on more ambitious lunar exploration projects and deep space exploration projects. More over, China should not hesitate to take the leadership in international cooperation on space science.

Roger Maurice Bonnet, former Director of Space Science Projects at the European Space Agency (ESA) and Executive Director of International Space Science Institute (ISSI), is the winner of “China International Science and Technology Award” in 2010 and China ‘Friendship Award” in 2010.
