The CAS Fellowship for Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholars from Developing Countries is designed to strengthen ties between CAS institutes and research institutes in developing countries, enabling awardees to conduct collaborative research projects within an international perspective. The fellowship comprises two separate categories: 1) short-term visiting scholar, for a period of 3-6 months; 2) postdoctoral fellow, for a period of two years (may be extended). CAS provides funding for each recipient to conduct research in China. Upon the recommendation of NSSC, two scientists were named short-term visiting scholars. They are Dr. Chinnawat Surussavadee,director of the Andaman Environment and Natural Disaster Research Center (ANED), Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand. Dr. Surussavadee also serves as research affiliate at the Electronics Research Laboratory, MIT; and Prof. MarghituOctav, who focuses on the study of spaceplasma physics of the near-Earth environmentand extraterrestrial physics at the Max Planck Society. Dr. Francisco Carlos de Meneses Junior of INPE, Brazil,has received a postdoctoral fellowship to continue his research on space physics at NSSC’s State Key Laboratory of Space Weather for the next two years. |
